About This Book
Three men ashore discover a stray dog in a tavern and quarrel over possession, reward, and possible sale. After securing the animal and bringing it to their lodging, the dog’s restless affection and loud howling disturb the night and provoke a succession of petty arguments and schemes. Their bickering reveals rival claims, small‑time greed, and awkward camaraderie as they debate whether to keep, hide, or profit from the animal. Humorous episodes highlight human foibles and the domestic chaos that follows when a devoted but troublesome dog is taken in.
