The wolf hunters

The narrative follows Roderick and his companions, including the seasoned guide Mukoki and fellow hunter Wabigoon, as they travel into a frozen northern wilderness to hunt wolves and endure harsh winter conditions. Encounters include ambushes, injuries, mysterious skeletons and hidden buckskin valuables, while a tamed wolf becomes both companion and avenger. Scenes alternate between tracking and survival skills, tense confrontations with rival hunters and eerie local beliefs, and a final series of rescues and a stand at a remote post. Themes include loyalty, the demands of the wild, and the fragile boundary between human communities and the natural world.
