About This Book

A returning military leader and his family become entangled in a brutal power struggle after a contested imperial succession and the public sacrifice of an enemy captive. Political ambition and private vengeance intertwine as a vengeful queen and her allies plot atrocities, including sexual violence and mutilation that shatter domestic life. The play traces cycles of revenge, betrayal, and gruesome retaliation across public and private arenas, ending in a bloody, tragic reckoning that examines justice, cruelty, and the collapse of civic order.
