About This Book

A young man and a young woman journey into the remote far northwest, traveling between stopping-houses, rivers, and long portage trails. Along the way they encounter a cast of frontier characters whose jealousies and ambitions generate rivalry and danger. Their progress is repeatedly tested by violent weather, storms, and a blizzard that lead to clashes, a desperate pursuit, and serious wounds. Rescue efforts, hard choices, and an aftermath scene underscore endurance, loyalty, and the personal cost of surviving in an unforgiving wilderness.
