About This Book

A collection of short illustrated children's tales centers on a kindly rabbit gentleman whose outings among woodland friends mix play and mild peril. In one episode two piglet boys pretend to be pirates, but a disguised fox and wolf seize the rabbit until the children improvise a stove-pipe cannon and vegetable ammunition to rescue him. Another story finds squirrel companions gathering nuts for a roast only to be captured by a bobcat; quick thinking turns falling horse-chestnuts into an escape. A third vignette follows the rabbit and a muskrat housekeeper as they gather May flowers and encounter gentle woodland mishaps.
