About This Book

The collection gathers short lyric poems that move between contemplative calm and turbulent passion, using concise, musical lines and recurring images of sea, wind, seasons, and evening light. Many pieces voice longing, solitude, and consolation, often addressing a beloved or a singing presence while alternating hope and resignation. Natural phenomena—waves, storms, dawn, and autumn decay—serve as metaphors for inner states. Occasional sonnets and mythic or spiritual invocations broaden the formal range. Overall the poems emphasize sensory detail and melodic rhythm to explore memory, desire, and the search for solace amid change.

XIV.

Do’t d’ ierde gyng nei d’ ein en ’t lêste blêd
Bleek deldwirle oer hjar wiettich earmtlik klaed,
Biloek ús gea, ’t wâld húvre—sêft oer ’t paed
Mids dripkjend beamte gyng in frjemde trêd.

Dead’s amme loek oer ’t wâldrom gear, en têd
Joech ’t beamt him del nei d’ âlde groun, as waerd
Hjar woartel wjirm-toknage; yn ’t dompich skaed
Forstoar it biidzjende iere nôt-sie rêd.

Det seach frou Frigga drôvjend oan: hja hat
It blomte en ’t nôt en simmer’s ljochtloft djûr
En striidt tsjin dûnkrens dy’t de tier fortart—

Ho brocht hja glâns! By ’t skriemen fen Natûr
Berne ûnder loft fen griis en drouwend swart
In laitsjend famke, in stjerre yn ’t Hjerst-bistjûr.
