Die Unschuld saß in grüner Laube,
Sie hielt ein Täubchen in dem Schoß;
Und Amor kam: Gib mir die Taube,
Ein Weilchen nur gib deine Taube!
Die Unschuld ließ sie lächelnd los,
Doch hielt sie Täubchen an dem Band,
Das sich um Täubchens Flügel wand.

Doch kaum hat er die weiße Taube,
So schneidet er den Faden ab;
Und höhnisch lachend, mit dem Raube
Entflieht der Räuber aus der Laube,
Und nimmer kehrt der lose Knab';
Und als ihr Täubchen nimmer kam,
Ward sie dem Räuber ewig gram.
