About This Book
A set of linked children's tales set in the mountain community of Timbertangle follows Wongo, a curious young brown bear, Kaw, a teasing but loyal crow, and Cho-gay, a boy leader. Episodes range from Wongo's food-seeking misadventures and a daring plot against the fearsome old bear to tales of trickery and pack confrontations around the settlement, to a longer sequence about a drought year that brings grizzlies, cave refuges, a journey to the Up-Above Country, and finally the return of rain. Recurring themes include friendship, cunning, bravery, and the community's relationship with the natural world.
