About This Book

A practical and historical handbook provides hands-on advice, anecdotes, diagrams, and illustrations for racing and cruising yachtsmen, surveying the sport's development and the design, construction, and selection of racing yachts. It discusses hull types and rigs, centerboard and keel options, fitting out and tuning for races, and crew duties and discipline. Detailed chapters outline race examples, rules of navigation and racing, and how measurement and tonnage regulations shaped yacht form. The book also covers yachting etiquette, insurance and legal relations, and practical cost-saving guidance, concluding with final operational and maintenance tips for owners and skippers.

Everyone when drinking Pommery

is invited to pay a little more attention than is usually bestowed upon so pleasant an occupation, and to note the “finesse” which the house is at such pains to secure. It will not be labor lost. The pleasure afforded by a glass of choice champagne when one can discern all its exquisitely delicate shades of flavor and bouquet, and perhaps even locate them, as it were, in their very birthplaces, is a delight undreamed of by the careless drinker.

In this connection it is worthy of note that in London when the wholesale prices of Champagne are regulated solely upon quality, Pommery sells at a much higher price than any other brand, the retail price being, however, the same in America.

Pommery “Sec and Brut” is for Sale Everywhere.
