Twelfth Night

A young woman, washed ashore and believing her brother lost, adopts a male disguise to serve a lovesick nobleman who courts a grieving countess; the countess rejects all suitors yet falls for the disguised servant, while the servant secretly loves the nobleman. A separate comic plot sends the household steward upended by a forged letter that prompts foolish behavior and confinement, and a rowdy set of relatives and a melancholy jester fuel misrule. Mistaken identities, a twin's arrival, cross-dressing, and revelry drive a resolution of marriages and exposed deceptions, exploring desire, gender ambiguity, and the thin line between folly and festivity.
