Blow the Man Down

A Flanjo intelligence officer hijacks a Mars–Titan freighter, locks the three-man crew out of the control room, and runs prerecorded autopilot tapes to trigger a high‑G acceleration that damages the ship and imperils the crew. He plans to brainwash the prisoners into serving his outpost and depends on a second timed tape to secure escape while remaining isolated in the control room. Lacking formal spacefaring experience, he studies onboard instructional reels to learn shiphandling as systems leak and fuel reserves become a concern. The narrative examines the precarious mix of audacity, improvisation, and technical hazard when a risky seizure of complex machinery collides with inexperience.
