A collection of linked short narratives portrays village life during a period of military mobilization, blending humor with domestic pathos. Episodes show recruiting bands calling at households, the send-off of young men, anxious parents juggling farm duties and fear, and the small rituals and gifts that mark partings. Folk music, local color, and vivid domestic detail animate scenes while recurring themes examine communal solidarity, personal sacrifice, and the ordinary burdens that wartime upheaval imposes on rural families.

3) Uj szó. «Durch» = «át» – «Lauch» = «hagyma» – «Durchlaucht» = «áthagymázott.»
4) Gyaur = keresztény; spanyol = zsidó.
