Remember me, Kama!

A veteran spacer named Cobber returns to an ammonia-world and finds its native Kamae civilization devastated after outsiders introduced catalysts and violence; he witnesses massacres, the overwhelming grief of a vast sentient Kama, and the ruined villages. Tensions among the human crew rise aboard their ship as Cobber confronts the moral consequences of technological trade and considers a desperate act to prevent further plunder. The narrative examines cultural interference, interspecies empathy, and the tragic results when commerce and ignorance unleash brutality.
