The story follows an aging corporate manager who seeks illegal rejuvenation and escape into the past to avoid death. In a future where a central Komitet tightly regulates life-extensions and cyclic time travel, a ruthless enforcement agency hunts unlicensed travelers. The protagonist bargains with a clandestine operator promising illicit travel to an earlier century while facing investigation by a Criminal Destroyer agent; the planned escape involves deception that could sacrifice a relative. The narrative examines state control of population and youth, personal desperation, and the moral cost of seeking forbidden renewal.
