The Eternal Wall

The narrative follows a young man, Ned Vince, whose reckless night drive ends in a car crash and drowning in an alkaline pit; his body becomes perfectly preserved by mineral saturation and desiccation. Millennia later an evolved, diminutive, furred species led by Loy Chuk uncovers the mummified corpse in a desolate, post-human landscape where star-faring superhumans have departed and Earth is arid. Using advanced instruments they probe the preserved remains and learn about ancient human anatomy and vanished society. The story contrasts brief human life with geological time, exploring preservation, the endurance of artifacts, and unexpected encounters between distant future beings and our past.
