Warrior Race

Two spacefarers running low on transformer fuel locate a recorded cache on a sparsely populated planet and attempt to recover it. They use a hypnophone to learn the local tongue, offer trade goods, and try to negotiate access, only to find the cache enshrined by a warrior society whose sacred customs forbid outsiders from approaching. The resulting confrontation pits practical necessity against ritual authority, creating a collision of technologies, expectations, and values; the tale examines cultural misunderstanding and lightly satirizes martial pride while following the characters’ efforts to resolve the impasse.
