About This Book
The story is set in a future collectivist society that eradicates personal identity and even forbids the singular pronoun; a young man quietly questions the enforced doctrines. He seeks out banned knowledge and rediscovers lost language and technology, forming a secret bond with a young woman. After discovery and confrontation with the society's punishments, he escapes and vows to remake his life on principles of individual choice, reason, and creative freedom. Themes include liberty, selfhood, and the moral value of independent thought.
