He reports on social customs, religious groups, tribal and military organization, and everyday life in Tehran, including public works and civic incidents. Two final chapters analyze the political situation following the late shah's assassination, profiling the new sovereign, succession arrangements, and the role of ministers. Illustrations and contemporary reportage supplement the travel narrative.
