About This Book

The narrative presents an abridged record of several ancient American peoples compiled by a prophetic editor from engraved plates. It traces family migrations from Jerusalem, the formation and division of societies, cycles of faithfulness and decline, prophetic sermons, extensive doctrinal discourses on Jesus Christ and covenants, and accounts of wars and political upheaval. A central portion recounts a post-resurrection visit by Christ and the establishment of a period of unity before renewed conflict. The text interleaves sermons, historical annals, genealogies, visions, and apocalyptic prophecy, concluding with short appendices and a final epistle addressing conversion, testimony, and spiritual admonition.

Joseph Smith Jr. was an American religious leader and founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, which is often referred to as Mormonism. In addition to the Book of Mormon, Smith authored several other significant works, including "General Smith's Views of the Powers and Policy of the Government of the United States" and "The Lectures on Faith." His teachings and writings have had a profound impact on the development of the Latter Day Saint movement and its theology.
