About This Book
The narrative follows the arrival in London of Maraton, a magnetic political leader whose presence ignites hope among impoverished workers and brings him into contact with both grassroots activists and the governing elite. Through scenes set in crowded lodging-houses, factories, and high political salons, the story traces the mobilization of the dispossessed, internal tensions among organizers, and the establishment's maneuvering to control or co-opt the movement. Themes include class resentment, political charisma and manipulation, the moral compromises of leadership, and the human cost of social agitation as ordinary lives collide with national power struggles.
