About This Book

A young boy is dressed by his parents in bright finery and goes for a walk in the jungle. He meets a succession of tigers that promise to eat him but spare him in exchange for his coat, trousers, shoes, and umbrella. The tigers quarrel over the garments and run so furiously around a tree that they whirl away into a pool of melted butter. The father collects the butter, the family fries pancakes in it, and the boy eats a very large number of them.

Her most famous work, "Little Black Sambo," published in 1899, tells the tale of a young boy and his adventures with a group of tigers, highlighting themes of bravery and cleverness.
