The Yellow Crayon

The narrative follows a circle of socially prominent figures who become embroiled in a struggle over a confidential report whose possession offers both advantage and danger. One withdrawn man abruptly prepares to leave his home while others turn to bribery, threats and police action to obtain or protect the paper. A composed holder of the information resists coercion and foils violent attempts to seize it, and the story moves through episodes of pursuit, concealment and tense confrontation. Scenes of domestic calm and salon interaction alternate with sudden revelations as loyalties shift and the true significance of the report emerges.
