About This Book
A lost little girl named Dot becomes separated from her home in the Australian bush and is befriended by a mother kangaroo who carries her and guides her through the wild. Along the way she meets talking native animals, hears a platypus sing ancient songs, witnesses a corroboree and a mock court where creatures debate human encroachment, and learns about the lives and dangers facing bush wildlife. Encounters blend fanciful animal speech, natural description, and moral appeals to protect native species. The journey ends with Dot reunited with her family and a renewed respect for the animals she has met.
