Divinity

A man who will do anything to avoid compulsory regeneration escapes a spacecraft and crash-lands on an unfamiliar planet. Awestruck locals interpret his space suit as proof of divinity, and he accepts their veneration to secure food, shelter, and time to learn their ways. He manipulates his helmet and manners to sustain the illusion while exploring the environment and assessing risks. Constantly anxious about being found by his former crewmates, he weighs the moral and practical costs of living as a false god.
