About This Book
A group of young friends and associates become involved in risky oil prospecting and confrontations with illegal night operators. They mount clandestine plans to torpedo wells using glycerine, elude a persistent detective, and make perilous night journeys through the woods. The narrative alternates between daring schemes, engineering work to drill and open wells, a destructive conflagration that prompts searches and pursuit, and legal maneuvers including arrests and missing witnesses. The plot follows their practical labors, traps, and courtroom struggles as possession and success in the oil fields are contested.
