About This Book
A once-capable spaceman named Joel Latham, now addicted to the drug tsith, wakes in the Venusport swamps suffering fierce withdrawal and gradually recalls nights of gambling, lost possessions, and drifting from world to world. He confronts a fellow addict and the local supplier who controls access to the drug, learns that credit and weapons that once secured his passage are gone, and faces the prospect of enforced labor and social exile. The narrative follows his physical agony, fading memories, and the narrow choices addiction forces in a harsh, marginal environment.
