About This Book
The collection retells a sequence of Greek myths and heroic sagas, presenting dramatic episodes from the Trojan War — the abduction of Helen, sieges and pitched battles, Achilles’ wrath and death, the cunning of Ulysses and the wooden horse — followed by the wanderings of Ulysses on his return. It also recounts other legendary quests such as the search for the Golden Fleece, the labors of Theseus including the Minotaur, and the adventures of Perseus and Andromeda. Each tale is narrated plainly and linked by themes of honor, fate, cunning, and the intervention of gods.
