Little Oskaloo; or, The White Whirlwind

A historical prelude frames a frontier tale set during General Wayne’s 1794 campaign and the mounting confederation of Native nations, then follows frontier trackers and settlers along the Maumee as military pressure mounts. Two seasoned scouts, one driven by past loss and one younger, patrol rivers and meet a mysterious Indigenous woman whose presence provokes suspicion, protection, and strategic curiosity. Encounters with renegades, council deliberations, and skirmishes create a sequence of patrols and revelations that probe themes of revenge, cultural mistrust, survival, and the fragile loyalties of border communities caught between war and personal vendetta.
