The Titan

The narrative follows an ambitious businessman who, released from prison, relocates west to remake his fortune, targeting street-railways, land deals, and political influence in a growing metropolis. The plot tracks his relentless pursuit of wealth and power, romantic entanglements, strategic alliances with the press and politicians, corporate maneuvering to obtain franchises, public scandals and exposures, economic panics, and the moral and personal consequences of his drive. Chapters alternate between business tactics, courtroom and political contests, social intimacies, and the city's expansion, culminating in financial upheaval and the protagonist's reckoning with the costs of triumph.
