Dead Man's Love

A convicted man escapes during a prison fire, is thought to have been hanged and buried, and returns under a new name. Reborn into society, he becomes involved with a vulnerable young woman under the guardianship of a controlling doctor; their growing bond draws him into a web of secrets, rivalries, and suspicion as he seeks to protect her and to conceal or confront the knowledge that binds him. The narrative follows his struggles with identity, social reinvention, guilt, and revenge, moving through episodes of concealment, pursuit, violent encounters, and moral reckoning.
