The Story of the Teasing Monkey
About This Book
The tale follows a mischievous little monkey named Jacko who enjoys teasing other animals by pulling their tails. After provoking a lion and lioness, they conspire with a bear to trap him; Jacko falls into a stone larder where he is plied with bananas he shares with rats. Longing for a coconut, he is supplied fruit by the rats, fashions a husk coat, and appears fat. When predators return intending to eat him and the bear tries to seize him alone, a collapse of stones frees Jacko, who slips away and scatters coconuts onto the lion and lioness, leaving them sore-headed and begrudgingly eating bananas for dinner.
