About This Book
A group of young motor-rangers aboard a gasoline-driven launch encounter a volcanic, magnetic island that mysteriously vanishes, prompting them to rescue a scientist and his photographer and to flee the area. Their voyage evolves into an aerial expedition aboard an experimental flying craft, exposing them to violent storms, mechanical failures, high-altitude accidents, and antagonists who seek to trap them. Strange flying devices and feathered aeroplanes complicate matters and lead to the discovery of a deserted city of a vanished people. The episodic narrative mixes seafaring action, inventive machinery, scientific curiosity, and resourceful teamwork as the youths confront natural and human dangers to survive.
