Motor Matt's Mandarin; or, Turning a Trick for Tsan Ti

The narrative follows a daring motorist and his cowboy companion who become entangled with a displaced Chinese mandarin seeking recovery of a jade amulet called the Eye of Buddha. After a spectacular automobile wreck and the appearance of a yellow cord, the trio pursue clues across rugged terrain and into portside intrigues, encountering sailors, cunning thieves, diamond dealers, and a master rogue. Episodes alternate mechanical thrills, narrow escapes, and clever deceptions, while short chapters highlight exotic customs, pirate encounters, and puzzlelike clues such as glass spheres and paper leads that propel a brisk, episodic adventure.
