About This Book
A wounded veteran, recuperating from active service, is recruited by former intelligence chiefs for a dangerous undercover mission. Assuming a false identity, he moves between English country houses, front-line districts and mountain refuges to track an enemy spy network and to protect a vulnerable operative. The narrative mixes episodes of surveillance, clandestine travel and sudden violence with quieter scenes of recovery, friendship and moral reflection. Throughout, questions of loyalty, duty and the personal cost of covert work are quietly examined as the plot builds toward a tense counter-operation.
