Set on remote North American plains, the narrative follows a pale, determined rider whose near‑fatal ambush launches a succession of episodes — hunts, skirmishes, night encounters on the pampas, interactions with ranchos and indigenous groups, and shifting alliances and betrayals. Action scenes alternate with quieter explanatory passages, conversations, and long journeys, while recurring themes of courage, survival, and the landscape's grandeur shape characters' choices.
