Girls of '64

Set amid wartime shortages and anxious rumor, the narrative follows two young cousins navigating daily life in a small Southern town, from kitchen comforts to the depot where travelers bring news. Domestic scenes and social expectations are punctuated by the arrival of a mysterious visitor and a sequence of odd incidents—knocks on windows, a man on a roof, a sudden disappearance—that deepen into secrets and growing danger.
