Resurrection Seven

The story follows Eric, a man revived after nearly two centuries aboard a generational starship where ten suspended travelers are scheduled to awaken in turn. He confronts grief for a lost lover, adapts to unfamiliar customs—most notably a ceremonial role as Lazarus who appears every twenty-five years—and meets a shipboard community that treats him partly as artifact and partly as authority. Through his acclimation and the revelation that his predecessor died soon after revival, the narrative examines tensions between duty and ceremony, the disjunction of memory and living generations, and the practical and emotional challenges of preserving a mission across centuries.
