Pegeen

An artist fleeing city life takes refuge in a simple rural shack on Shaker land and struggles to recover from emotional exhaustion and creative fatigue. He alternates between restorative walks and bouts of loneliness, until a determined, capable local child arrives to manage his household and impose steady domestic rhythms. Small acts of care, encounters with neighbors, and renewed engagement with landscape and painting gradually revive his spirit and technique. The narrative explores themes of consolation through nature, the quiet power of community service, and the slow, practical work of healing and artistic renewal.
