A Shadow Squadman, Fred Penelle, goes undercover as a clerk on a moon-bound liner that carries a clandestine, high-value cargo of T-catalyst. The shipment's critical role for lunar industry and for Mars and Venus makes the voyage politically sensitive amid rumors of revolution and foreign intrigue. The Blake family, proprietors of the irite company dependent on the catalyst, face mysterious deaths and disappearances, intensifying fears of sabotage. During the trip, crew illnesses and suspicious fatalities expose a conspiracy of piracy and interplanetary treachery. Penelle must uncover betrayals and hidden plots aboard the ship to keep the cargo from enemy hands and avert a larger crisis.
