Alcatraz of the Starways

The story takes place on an enslaved Venus where prisoners toil in a phosphorescent swamp harvesting rare, jewel-like plant fruits under a punitive interplanetary regime. An Earthman endures hopeless conditions and nearly drowns before being rescued by a small, winged native, highlighting both cross-species compassion and systemic brutality. Alongside these survival scenes, a warrior-princess emerges bearing knowledge of a cataclysmic weapon that can alter the balance of power. The narrative interweaves personal endurance, the moral dilemmas of revolt, and the ethical consequences of deploying overwhelmingly destructive technology in the struggle against colonial domination.
