The Primus Curse

A veteran spaceship captain and his small crew undertake a classified mission to the planet Primus to establish contact with its cities Nephele and Estival and to determine the mysterious deaths of earlier explorers. Their orders insist on exhaustive, even ruthless, investigation that could avert a larger expeditionary force. The story traces the shipboard dynamics—psychological evaluations, clashing attitudes toward risk, and questions of leadership—while the crew balances procedural problem-solving and moral restraint against growing unease as they approach the planet.
