Purple Forever

A retired major is summoned and paid to hear a startling account about recent planetary landings. Visiting a scientist and a wealthy patron, he recounts military missions to a nearby planet where official pictures and popular descriptions hide a far more lethal reality. The narrative juxtaposes sanitized publicity with scenes of choking atmospheres, swampy terrain, and enormous predators, and then follows his efforts to uncover why reports were manipulated.
