Exile From Venus

A stubborn Venusian man, shamed by a petty quarrel and a rash promise, resolves to return to a radioactive, barely habitable Earth to claim an enormous ruby called the Fire of Skanderbek. Torn between the safe comforts of controlled Dome life and a seductive companion who urges prudence, he confronts the moral pull of pride and atavistic impulse. The narrative follows his voyage into contaminated wastes and encounters with scattered, primitive Terrestrian communities, portraying hazardous travel, skirmishes, trade at frontier posts, and the personal costs of seeking reputation and reward beyond civilized security.
