Look to the Stars

An opening cosmogonic legend presents rival deities who shape a world and split its moon, establishing a mythic backdrop. The narrative then follows itinerant Dave Marlin, who, stranded in a storm, discovers a disabled roadster with a struggling mechanic, a cuffed woman and a tense man claiming to be a detective. A fight over a gun leaves Marlin in control as identities—Sally Camino as an accused con artist and Len McGruder as a lawman—emerge and the trio sets out. Later Marlin awakens aboard a deteriorating vessel to find missing companions, drunken stupor, and mounting unease about their situation.
