About This Book
On a cold mountain night a young woman tending a solitary cabin cares for an injured young man who arrives seeking shelter. Their intimate reunion reveals a fraught obstacle: her drunken, violent stepfather has forbidden their relationship and has threatened the suitor. As she nurses his wounds they exchange tender confessions, while his resentment toward the stepfather hardens into dangerous talk of revenge, forcing both to confront love, loyalty, and the temptation toward violence.
