Tapiolassa

A lyrical forest tableau brings together sprites, spirits and humans through song, dream and confrontation. Morning revels of blue maidens and a sleeping wanderer give way to uncanny visitations by hiisi and forest spirits that both tempt and threaten the wood. A shepherd and a young wanderer face a laughing raven and the ominous mountain whose magic steals cattle, while a treasure-seeker is cautioned about a bewitched entrance, seductive maidens and deadly allurements inside. The piece blends folkloric myth, moral warning and vivid natural imagery to examine enchantment, temptation and the fragile boundary between human life and the supernatural.
