About This Book
The tale follows a poor charcoal burner who, consumed by envy of local wealth and prestige, bargains with supernatural figures for prosperity. A benevolent glass spirit and a darker bargainer provide conflicting gifts; one exchange leaves him with a heart turned to stone, granting riches but eroding compassion, love, and moral sense. As his fortunes rise, relationships and conscience unravel, prompting a desperate quest to undo the bargain. Through trials and encounters with folkloric beings he confronts greed and ultimately learns the value of sympathy, humility, and a restored, warm heart.
