X Marks the Pedwalk

A satirical tale follows the outbreak of urban civil strife after a crosswalk confrontation in which an elderly pedestrian fires at a car and is run down, with a wheelchair user among the casualties. Retaliatory vandalism and street attacks spread as rival bands of Feet and Wheels prepare weapons, rig vehicles, and exploit secret tunnels. The government imposes curfews and mediates a tense truce even as grassroots committees hoard armaments and plan ambushes. Negotiators produce a set of detailed Wheel-Foot Articles limiting pedestrian firearms, prescribing honking and curb rules, and redefining traffic killings, which authorities promptly post and enforce.
