Hagerty's Enzymes

The story follows Harper Breen, an overworked financier whose nerves lead him to a Martian spa-hotel staffed entirely by robots. Reluctant at first, he succumbs to soporific travel gas and the hotel's restorative treatments, and encounters advanced automatons and reports of a Martian fungal enzyme capable of breaking down crude oil. His initial skepticism shifts into opportunism as he imagines commercial applications for robots and the enzyme, prompting a meditation on technological cures, human stubbornness, and the intersection of health, commerce, and automation.
